is there life after Tumblr?

The tritanic Tumblr has hit the iceberg “NSFW”

Tumblr is about to purge all adult content in less than a week. Many contributors are scrambling to one or more of several contending replacements:

Humblr is growing by leaps and bounds – but can it keep up?

Humblr.social – a crowdfunded Mastodon site (Mastodon created “switter.com” a twitter replacement for sex workers. Humblr intends to be a new home to all previous Tumblr users that were pushed of the site, by their new NSFW policies. We offer a place to post your photos, videos and stories.
Humblr is not owned and operated by a large corporation! Instead it is run as a passion project by fellow kinky people. Due to the fact that we run completely free of ads, we have to rely on your help to keep the lights on around here.

Their rules are:

Rules

  • NEVER EVER post illegal content
  • NEVER EVER post anything containing depictions of children!
  • NEVER EVER post anything containing necrophilia or death!
  • DO NOT sign up, if you are under 18!
  • DO keep racism and hate hate speech to yourself!
  • DO flag posts that don’t follow the rules!
  • DO use the CW (Content-Warning) function to flag posts that target a special audience or that fall in the taboo spectrum! (Gay, TS, ABDL, Scat, Blood, Piss, etc.)
  • PLEASE use proper Hashtags describing your content, so other users can find and or filter your content!
  • IF you automate posts, you may only upload one media per minute! Our servers will enforce that!
BDSMLR started with good intentions but is becoming increasingly restrictive

BDSMLR.COM – Microblogging and social media for people into Bondage, BDSM and Fetishes

Lately they are asking us to report violators of SESTA/FOSTA:

We simply have to filter out, monitor and make sure that NO SUCH CONTENT exists on our site, no matter what. This isn’t ideal and this is restrictive for freedom of speech as we have to put certain filters on place which could cause false positives, but we really don’t have a choice if we are here to stay in long term…– DO NOT OFFER ANY KIND OF ESCORT, MASSAGE OR ANY OTHER KIND OF PAID SERVICES

Reddit has a reddit for almost everybody

Reddit – a vast switchboard of a variety of mostly non-kink topics

Fetlife is a big catalog of skin & fetishes for those looking to hook up

Fetlife – a kink dating site

looks like a ‘safe’ tumblr – but who owns it?

Swarmr –
Swarmr is committed to free speech, net-neutrality , gender equity, digital freedom, privacy rights and is opposed to unlawful spying on citizens and internet users…ownership uncertain at time of writing

They’re working on some ‘incredible dope’

Cumblr – a proposed site going online 12-17

Update: other sites suggested are: pillowfort.io

but there is a wait list.

Ello.co for artists

blogr

for adult media (both creation and viewing)

In a previous post, Miss Scarlett said she prefers bdsmlr. I agree that her blog would fit in BDSMLR. If you post on a number of topics (including non-bdsm), you might find BDSMLR too narrow and confining. You may find a reddit or become a redditor for your collection of unique content.

To summarize: BDSMLR may seem to be a narrow fit and may be challenged by escort services, Humblr is dependent on your support to keep the servers going and to police the site (how unlikely is that?), Reddit has been around a while and has many BDSM reddits and is immune from the scourge of Apple, Fetlife is almost totally dedicated to a certain kind of BDSM, SWARMR – who owns it? How can you trust it? Will it end up like another Tumblr? Cumblr – not there yet – could be a scam.

On the other hand – there will still be a Tumblr but just without all the adult content. Is it time to apply “post-its” or pasties on all your nudes?
