Now that we’re on the eve of legal pot in California, many of my patrons are asking: is pot good for bdsm sessions?

First off, pot is not new to people in several other states (CO, WA, ME, MA, NV, OK & AK). California has had legalized medicinal pot for several years.
No one has come to me directly and said pot has ruined their bdsm session or that it has destroyed or diminished their kink relationships.
That having been said, there are no field studies about the use of recreational pot and bdsm practices. Many have weighed in on the issue, though. You can check this

So what should you do with your partner in the coming new year?
First off, you can’t legally smoke/vape anything in most public places. The bars I work for have a hard policy on this issue. Guys usually go out to the back of the bar and puff away.
You can’t have more than 1 oz. in your possession at any time (that’s the law).
You can get busted on federal property. Places like GGNRA, border checkpoints, airports, etc.
You can consume edibles. The bar does not make or sell edibles because we don’t have one of the few coveted licenses. Of course, I won’t stop you if you share a few cookies with your buds while drinking a round.
And if you want to go downstairs to the dungeon while high, who’ll stop you! But if you screw around with the folks who don’t appreciate your high, you may be asked to leave.

The future? Who knows. Maybe we’ll have a 420-themed bdsm play night someday.
