In California, politicos attempted to place a condom safety net on porn actors in a proposition. The industry fought back:

but this recently failed .
This crisis didn’t stop some from suggesting other alternatives:

The FSC’s Pass System does something similar to the Nevada system. The system is used widely by major porn producers.
Others have suggested all porn actors be required to use PrEP:
PrEP is a costly and a not-completely-effective preventative of HIV, let alone other STI/STD’s.
The Pass System or any other trade group effort is only as effective as it’s participation. A growing number of films are produced by indies who do not belong to FSC or use the Pass System.
what should you do?
If you only watch porn…nothing! (except vote against propositions similar to Cal.’s prop. 60 b/c of the suppression of free speech and support organizations like FSC).
If you’re in a porn film…either work with an industry that uses the Pass System for its actors (and yourself) or check for recent HIV test results of everyone in the film…or use condoms.
