After reading Persephone‘s post (reprinted below) about Polyamory I found 2 key ideas:
The love I can feel in my heart is infinite
No one person can meet my every need
From this I offer the following (Dave’s fundamental theorem of Polyamory – necessary conditions):
- Polyamory might work for those who want to make their relationship more permanent
- The conventional ways for making a relationship permanent such as monogamy, nuclear family, etc. do not fit the circumstances of the participants
Persephone goes on to provide examples of her poly arrangement: Her primary partner is up most nights working and she has to sleep alone. She gets comfort from cuddling with Amanda and her kinky needs are met with Evan.
I’ve avoided posting about my poly situation because of trolling comments I received but maybe I will in future posts. Until then, “the bar is open”!
